When placed side by side, these posters invite comparisons between tone, attitude and image styles. In the earlier poster, viewers are encouraged to write to the War Garden Commission to obtain more information about canning— a serious wartime activity. The later poster encouraged viewers to purchase canning supplies— for an impossibly bountiful, fun-filled wartime activity.
